Life
Little is certain about his life; what is known comes from oral accounts that differ. Some say he was born in Al Dhaid, others in Al Saadi in Ras Al Khaimah, and others in Al Khran. Accounts agree that he settled at Al Khran at the end of his life and asked to be buried there.1
The Abu Dhabi poetry encyclopedia records that he lived in the 16th century, moved between the desert communities of the emirates, and left only a daughter.2
His poetry
His poems are valued for their wisdom, description and careful language, and many Emiratis know them by heart. Later poets, including Ousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi, named him among their influences.1,2,3
