Asian Cup 2015
Mabkhout opened his Asian Cup account with two goals against Qatar in Canberra on 11 January 2015. Four days later he scored against Bahrain after 14 seconds, the fastest goal in the competition's history, and he finished as the tournament's top scorer, the first Emirati to do so.2
Record scorer
He has played his whole career for Al Jazira. In 2019 he passed Adnan Al Talyani as the UAE's all-time top scorer, and at that year's Asian Cup in the UAE he scored the quarter-final winner against Australia at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. By June 2022, FIFA noted, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi among active players had more international goals.1,2
