His work
Ibrahim's work comes from his relationship with the landscape of Khor Fakkan. A monograph published for the 2022 Biennale covers his biomorphic abstract paintings of the 1980s, his Land Art and installations of the 1990s, and his papier-mâché sculptures of the last two decades.1,2
The UAE National Pavilion counts him among the UAE's first generation of contemporary artists, with Hassan Sharif, Abdullah Al Saadi, Hussain Sharif and Mohammed Kazem.2
Venice 2022
The installation clustered human-sized, tree-like forms made from raw papier-mâché and natural materials, including earth, leaves, tea, coffee and tobacco, shifting from bright colours to black and white. It was shown at the Arsenale from April to November 2022 and curated by Maya Allison.1,2,3
