The broker will quote continuous buy and sell prices on DFM-listed shares under the exchange's Market Maker programme, aimed at narrower spreads and deeper liquidity.

EFG Hermes UAE, a firm regulated by the UAE Capital Market Authority, has launched market-making and liquidity-provision services on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Gulf News reported on 12 October 2026. The launch is part of the DFM's Market Maker programme, which aims to improve market depth, encourage orderly trading and strengthen investor confidence.

A market maker continuously offers prices at which it will buy and sell a security. This can narrow the gap between buying and selling prices, the bid-ask spread, and make it easier to trade shares that change hands only rarely. EFG Hermes said its electronic trading systems were built to support continuous two-sided pricing for institutional and retail investors.

"We welcome EFG Hermes as a market maker on DFM, an addition that reflects the continued evolution of the market's ecosystem and the growing role of institutional liquidity provision in supporting efficient trading," said Khalifa Rabba, Chief Operating Officer of the DFM.

Ahmed Waly, Global Head of Brokerage at EFG Hermes, called the launch "a strategic evolution of our platform", saying it would combine execution technology with the firm's regional presence to support price discovery. Raymond Wasef, who heads market making at the firm, said deeper markets could encourage more investors to take part.

The benefit for investors depends on which shares the service covers and on market conditions. Smaller DFM companies with thin trading stand to gain most if spreads narrow, and the exchange publishes the list of registered market makers and the securities they cover.
